Welcome to Jackson State University, Mississippi’s Urban University located in the capital city.  Jackson State is a university that is dedicated to social justice and quality education.  Designated as a high research activity university, Jackson State continues to enhance the state, nation and world through comprehensive economic development, healthcare, technological and educational initiatives.

We have assembled an amazing group of people throughout the four campuses of this great University, including some of the best students in the nation and a world class faculty and staff. With nearly 9,000 students, Jackson State is the fourth largest institution of higher learning in Mississippi.  We readily embrace the opportunities and challenges of providing the best education possible for the people who elect to study at our institution.  As I like to say, we are "building bridges to a brighter tomorrow" for the people who grace our campus.

We are very proud of our alumni and friends who help to make us great.  We encourage all of you to get on board the Jackson State University train.  We are going to many exciting places.
